I’m so happy that British strawberries are in season again, so I thought I would celebrate by making jam! Instead of lots of sugar I have used a small amount of maple syrup to make the jam sweet and chia seeds to bind it together. I added a freeze-dried berry powder to the jam, which was a mix of cranberry, blueberry and acai. It gave the jam a really nice taste like sweeties. You can use whichever freeze dried berry powder you can find in the local shops or buy online.

Use the jam on top of porridge, toast, jam tarts or biscuits.

  • 200g fresh ripe strawberries
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp cranberry powder or freeze-dried berry powder
Prep Time

  1. Add the ingredients (in order) to your favourite Ninja blender.

  2. Mix until smooth. This will take around 1-2 minutes and you may need to stop and shake the blender or scrape down the sides several times. You will need a little bit of patience, but it is well worth it in the end.

  3. Store in a sterile glass jar or an air tight container in the fridge.
