Find out how easy it is to make your own popcorn in the Ninja Foodi, and combine the best two movie snacks – pizza and popcorn – for this authentically scrumptious Gourmet Pizza Popcorn.
Gourmet Pizza Popcorn
- For the Popcorn
- 3 tbsp organic butter
- 3 tbsp organic virgin coconut oil
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- For the Pizza Seasoning
- 3 1/2 tbsp organic butter
- 1 1/2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast (powdered)
- 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic granules
- 1/4 tsp onion granules
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp grated parmesan (or any Italian hard cheese)
- 3 large fresh basil leaves (finely chopped)
Pre-heat your Ninja Foodi on the ‘Sear/Sauté’ setting on high for 2 minutes. Add your coconut oil and butter and melt until bubbling. Stir in your popcorn kernels and coat evenly using a silicone spatula cooking for around no more than 30 seconds.
Place the pressure cooker lid on top, do not lock as this will make the pressure build up too quickly and burn the popcorn. It will take a couple of minutes before the kernels start to pop so listen out carefully. Once the popping begins to slow to every 3 seconds turn off the unit and leave for 1 minute or so until the popping stops. Carefully remove the lid and decant the popcorn into a large bowl.
Give your Foodi bowl a quick rinse and dry, place back into the unit then add the butter. Select the ‘Sear/Sauté’ setting on low and let the butter melt a little. Add all of the seasoning ingredients, except for the grated Parmesan and fresh basil. Cook, stirring frequently, until the butter has melted and all of the ingredients are fully incorporated.
Turn off the unit and stir back in your popcorn, coating fully in the seasoning. Sprinkle over the grated Parmesan and fresh basil and stir once more until evenly distributed. Serve immediately and enjoy!
If vegan you can substitute butter for any vegan butter brand and the Parmesan for equal quantities of powdered nutritional yeast.
