Cacao Picnic Flapjacks

Super easy to make (get the kids involved!), delicious and a healthier homemade version of the traditional snack too. These bars are ideal for popping into a cool bag to enjoy on a picnic.

Cacao Picnic Flapjacks

  • 150g rolled oats
  • 50g any cereal
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp nut butter
  • 4 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • For the Topping
  • 200g dates, soaked in hot water for 10 minutes
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp cacao powder
  • 4 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Prep Time


  1. Place the oats and cereal into your Ninja Kitchen Nutri Ninja blender and roughly whizz up to break down. Tip into a bowl and mix in the cinnamon.

  2. Gently melt the nut butter, maple syrup and coconut oil then pour this into the dry ingredients and mix well to combine.

  3. Spoon into a small lined tupperware box or tin and pack down tightly. Leave to chill in the fridge while you make the topping.

  4. Drain the dates and add in the other ingredients along with 2 tablespoons of the water that the dates were soaking in. Whizz up until quite thick and smooth.

  5. Spread this evenly over the top of the oats. Make sure you have created a thick layer of chocolate. Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
